Top 10 Bake Shop Party Ideas

Everyone Wants to Be a Baker!

Put a chef’s hat on any kid’s head and they will go racing for a bowl of dough. This is especially true for older kids, around the age of 10+, as they can really do the ‘baking’ on their own. Teens also love ‘playing’ in the kitchen – so don’t count that age group out either.

For younger kids, this theme is good for some activities, like decorating a cookie, but having a teddy bear theme. Hey, they can still wear the hat!

The Bake Shop Party Starts with an Invitation

Get just the right invitation for this theme, so that it matches your party. For instance, if you are going to be making cookies, a cupcake invitation just won’t do. If you are having this theme party at a local eatery or bakery, make postcards of a picture of the place, then use them for the invitations. You can also use a digital image to create an email invitation and save on postage.

Use Bake Shop Party Theme Balloons for Decorations – Sweets & Cupcakes

Match the color of the balloons to the color your child loves for the theme. Also, use themed Mylar balloons. Scoop out the balloons before purchasing other decorative items as you may not find the same color scheme for both.

Create a Bake Shop Party Backdrop

The backdrop can be any number of things, but the most important part it has to have is your child’s name as the name of the Bake shop. From there you can make a dessert table or a photo selfie area.

Use Cupcake Towers and Treats to Decorate Tables

Decorating with colored table clothes, some confetti, and cupcake towers looks amazing. This is easy to do and doubles if you will be using the cupcakes as snacks.

Make Bake Shop Themed Snacks

This is a given, right? Gauge how hard the snack in question should be. For instance, you can have cupcakes with the icing on them, with a bar of different toppings and sprinkles for younger children to put on. But, have older children ice the cupcake themselves, where teens can back the cupcakes as well.

Decorating full or mini cakes is also a great idea, as kids don’t normally get to do this on their own. The creativity of your guest will shine in icing. Tons of fun!

Play Bake Shop Party Themed Games

This theme lends itself to contests, more than games. Who’s Cookie has the most icing? is the prettiest? is the most original? etc. Of course this leads back to the snacks ideas, but it is a foodie theme!

The one thing you will need to remember is to have enough of the supplies. If you are worried that one person will use too much of the items, leaving not enough for everyone else, set a per person limit before the games begin. Also, call your local bakeries for the supplies. You do not have to make everything yourself!

Have the Party Away From Home

There are many bakeries, cupcake shops, or sweet shops that have classes and promote parties. If your child is 10+ years old, this is a great way to do up this theme without having to do it all yourself! Plus, you may get to learn a new baking technique.

Say Thanks with Bake Shop Party Themed Favors

Cookies, homemade candy, or a decorated cupcake to take home is fun and yummy as a favor. Add a mini rubber spatula or whisk to help them remember the experience when your guest gets home and uses the item.

Aprons also make a wonderful favor for this party theme.
